Trump Campaign Sues to Extend Voting Deadline in Pennsylvania

The Trump campaign has filed a lawsuit in Pennsylvania seeking to extend the in-person voting deadline in Bucks County amid complaints that long lines are disenfranchising voters. This legal action comes after voters reported issues with mail-in ballot requests on the last day of elections.

Trump Campaign Sues to Extend Voting Deadline in Pennsylvania

In Pennsylvania, specifically in Bucks County, the election day has been fraught with challenges and controversies. A Republican voter, Jeanne Birosik, reported that when she went to her polling place, she was incorrectly informed that she had already voted, a situation confirmed by a judge. In this county, Trump's campaign filed a lawsuit requesting that all individuals who were in line before the deadline to request a mail-in ballot be allowed to do so even after the established deadline.

Pennsylvania does not allow early voting on machines at polling places, but in Bucks County and others in the region, requesting a mail-in ballot in person at the election office is permitted. This peculiarity has led to long lines and tensions between voters and local authorities. Amid these circumstances, Trump's campaign filed a lawsuit to extend the deadline for in-person mail-in ballot requests.

Regarding the electoral process in neighboring Lehigh County, an extension of the deadline was also requested due to logistical inconveniences that prevented voters from exercising their right to vote. In this situation, Trump's campaign and other Republican organizations joined forces to defend voters' rights and ensure a fair and accessible electoral process for all.

Governor Josh Shapiro's administration urged counties to allow every voter who was in line before the deadline to submit their mail-in ballot request. In this context, various disputes and claims related to mail-in voting in Pennsylvania have arisen, a crucial state in this presidential election, which has a large number of electoral votes at stake and intense political activity.
