Trump Calls for Death Penalty for Immigrant Killers

In the midst of the fierce campaign leading up to the elections on November 5, former president and Republican candidate Donald Trump warned that he would seek to push for the death penalty for immigrants who kill Americans. The proposal was made during a meeting before a crowd in Greensboro, North Carolina, where he again attacked immigration, one of the key issues of his campaign.

"We have to do it… I am calling for the death penalty for any migrant who kills a U.S. citizen or a law enforcement officer… Congress will approve it," Trump assured.

Trump considered that "the border is the greatest threat to this country" and pointed out that immigration is the issue that concerns Americans the most: "It is number one, it is the first, and the second is the economy, and the third is inflation." However, a recent Gallup poll contradicts his statement, as for 52% of citizens, the economy is the main concern, while immigration ranked fifth.
