A teacher at a high school in the state of Georgia (USA) was killed in front of his home after being struck by a car during a tragic incident involving his students' toilet paper prank. Jason Hughes, 40, came out of his house to surprise the students who were throwing toilet paper over trees as part of a traditional prank. However, Hughes tripped and fell on the slippery ground due to the rain. As the students tried to flee the scene in two separate cars, one of the drivers accidentally ran him over, according to police. The 18-year-old student driver, Jaden Ryan Wallace, was charged with involuntary manslaughter. However, the teacher's family said they would demand the charges be dropped. In a statement to The New York Times, Laura Hughes, Jason Hughes' wife and also a teacher at the same high school, said her husband was beloved by students and was aware of the prank and 'excited and waiting to catch them in the act.' The sheriff's office reported that Wallace and two other individuals stopped to try to help Hughes before emergency services arrived and he was taken to the hospital. Wallace and the other four 18-year-olds were charged with criminal trespass and littering. Hughes' wife stated that the family 'fully supports dropping the charges against all involved.' She said: 'This is a terrible tragedy, and our family is determined to prevent another tragedy from destroying these students' lives. This goes against Jason's lifelong dedication to investing in the lives of these children.'
