Jocelynn Rojo Carranza, an 11-year-old girl, made the heartbreaking decision to take her own life due to bullying and threats she was facing at the local Middle School. The little girl left an emotional letter expressing her fear of being deported, due to her family's immigration status.

Jocelynn, who struggled to communicate in English, received constant threats from her classmates, who intimidated her by saying they would report her family to ICE, leading to their deportation. In the midst of anguish and pressure, she decided to take her life on February 8. In her poignant letter, the little girl expressed her gratitude to her teacher for the support given and said goodbye to her classmates, stating that she would miss them.

The Gainesville Police Department issued a statement confirming that Jocelynn was taken to a medical center following a suicide attempt at her home on Cunningham Street.
