Cher and Ozzy Osbourne Inducted into Rock Hall

Last week in Cleveland, Ohio, there was a ceremonial event dedicated to the induction of new names into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Three distinct musicians were the main heroes of the evening: American singers Cher and Mary J. Blige, as well as English musician Ozzy Osbourne.

Among the new names added to the Hall of Fame, notable mentions include the groups "Cool and the Gang," "Dave Matthews Band," "Foreigner," and "A Tribe Called Quest," as well as Anglo-American singer and guitarist Peter Frampton. This reflects the Hall's effort to include artists from various musical genres, besides rock and roll, such as soul, blues, R&B, folk, country, and rap.

Popular British-Albanian pop star Dua Lipa opened the ceremony performing the song "Believe" in honor of Cher. She was joined on stage by stars from the seventies and eighties, performing this song, one of the first pieces where auto-tuning effects were used.

Cher, performing after years of criticism toward the Hall of Fame, noted with these words: "The face of music has changed forever." British singers Alexis Korner and John Mayall, as well as American singer Big Mama Thornton, were noted for their "musical influence." American singer Jimmy Buffet, his contemporary Dionne Warwick, songwriter and producer Norman Whitfield, and the group "MC5" were awarded for "musical excellence."
