Myles Garrett Signs Record Deal with Cleveland Browns

The National Football League (NFL) is known as one of the most profitable leagues in the world, as reflected in the high salaries of its players. Recently, Myles Garrett signed a million-dollar contract that makes him one of the highest-paid players in the NFL. Born in Arlington, Texas, Garrett renewed with the Cleveland Browns through the 2030 season for a total of $204.8 million, which means an average of $40 million per year. This makes him the highest-paid non-quarterback in the history of the league.

The agreement was finalized after Garrett expressed his desire to leave the Browns to seek an opportunity to compete for a Super Bowl. However, the management managed to retain him by offering a significant contract that includes a clause preventing him from being traded to another team. Since his arrival in Cleveland in 2017, Garrett has stood out by accumulating 102 sacks, becoming the first player to surpass 100 before the age of 29.

Despite his impressive contract, Myles Garrett is still not among the highest-paid players in the NFL, as quarterbacks typically lead that category. Last year, Dak Prescott signed a $240 million deal with the Dallas Cowboys, becoming one of the highest-paid players in the league. Other non-quarterback players among the highest-paid include Maxx Crosby, Justin Jefferson, Nick Bosa, CeeDee Lamb, and Arthur Juan Brown.

Garrett, who last season was the second player with the most sacks in the league, will need to continue proving his worth on the field. With recognition as the defensive player of the year in 2023, he is expected to remain a key player for the Cleveland Browns. Despite the pressure from his new contract, Garrett will aim to maintain his high performance and contribute to his team's success in the upcoming season.
