Sporting San Miguelito vs. Los Angeles Galaxy: Battle for Round of 16

Today, Sporting San Miguelito will play its return match against Los Angeles Galaxy, corresponding to the first round of the CONCACAF Champions Cup, where it will seek to advance to the round of 16 of this club competition. The match, to be held at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California, United States, is scheduled to start at 11:30 PM (Panama time). In the first leg, held last Thursday at the Estadio Universidad Latina in Penonomé, the San Miguelito team was close to winning, but Los Angeles Galaxy managed to draw 1-1, thus holding the advantage in the tiebreaker due to their away goal. The captain of San Miguelito, Rodrigo Tello, opened the scoring in the first leg at the 37th minute, but Joseph Paintsil equalized the game at the 68th minute. To advance to the next phase, the Panamanian club must win by any score. A 1-1 draw would extend the match to extra time, and if the tie persists in the aggregate score, they would go to penalties to decide the winner. A 0-0 draw would not be enough for Sporting to advance, so the American club would qualify for the next stage. It is worth noting that the San Miguelito team did not have to play in the Clausura Tournament of the Panamanian Football League (LPF) over the weekend and has been in the United States since Sunday to face today's game.
