A rancher from Texas was killed by an improvised explosive device placed by a cartel near the border with Mexico. Ramiro, the victim's son, reported that his father was driving on his ranch in Santa Rita, Tamaulipas, when the device detonated.

Sid Miller, Texas Agriculture Commissioner, described the act as "tragic and alarming" and highlighted the increasing threat posed by cartels in the border region. Miller urged agricultural workers to be cautious and report any suspicious activity to the police.

The commissioner also mentioned that the Lower Rio Grande Valley is a crucial part of the state's agricultural industry and assured that the Trump Administration and the State of Texas will take necessary measures to combat cartel control in the area.

Tamaulipas authorities have warned about the presence of improvised explosive devices in the region and have advised caution to communities near the border, especially in agricultural fields.

Dawn Buckingham, Texas Land Commissioner, condemned the violence and called on all Texans to remain vigilant. At funeral services held in Brownsville, Antonio Céspedes Saldierna, the victim of the fatal incident, was honored.

Ramiro Céspedes, the victim's son, remembered his father as a man who left a legacy through his family and his ranch. He emphasized the importance of ensuring the safety of those working in the agricultural industry, in light of the rising violence in the region.
