A woman from the state of Indiana in the USA was rescued after being trapped in her car for a week following a roadside accident. She survived by drinking water from a small creek until her relatives found and rescued her, authorities reported.
Major of the Newtown Police Department, Shennon Cotran, stated on social media that a wastewater treatment worker noticed the woman’s car bearing the name Brionna Cassell on the road near the town of Brook in Indiana. The man reported to his supervisor, and when they arrived at the car, they found Cassell inside, who was hydrated, conscious, and responsive, according to the police's words. Several rescue crews were called, and Cassell (41 years old) was extricated from the vehicle. She is from Whiteland in Indiana and was taken to a hospital in Chicago by helicopter.
The Cassell family reported on her condition for several days before her discovery, according to the police's words. Cassell's father, Delmar Coldwell, explained in an interview for ABC News that the accident occurred when she fell asleep at the wheel; she veered off the road and fell into a ditch. Coldwell added that his daughter suffered from serious injuries and her phone was found under the seat of the front passenger.
"She was trapped in the car and couldn't get out, but she managed to get water from the interior of the car," he explained and added that she used her jacket to collect the water and then was able to drink.
