The President of the United States, Donald Trump, recently announced at the White House an investment of 500 billion dollars in the "Stargate" project. The initiative, which involves collaboration with OpenAI, SoftBank, and Oracle, aims to boost artificial intelligence infrastructure and meet the growing demand for processing in the country. In this regard, the construction of 10 new data centers in Texas is planned, with the first one located in Abilene.
Trump's announcement was made in the company of Sam Altman, Masayoshi Son, and Larry Ellison. The alliance between the aforementioned companies considers the expansion of processing capacity for advanced technology, which has generated optimistic expectations regarding the future of technology in the United States. Trump stated that this project "will ensure the future of technology and is a resounding statement of confidence in the potential of the United States."
Currently, Texas has 279 data centers and stands out for housing 141 of them in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The state has experienced remarkable growth in its data storage capacity, thanks to factors such as affordable energy prices, network connectivity, and a favorable tax and regulatory environment for businesses.
The energy demand from large users, specifically data centers, is expected to increase by 60% this year, according to projections from the U.S. Energy Information Administration. This drive for technological infrastructure seeks not only to meet current processing needs but also to lay the groundwork for future advancements in artificial intelligence and technology.
